①：something matters，意思是某事很重要。matter 动词，意思是重要。
例如：experience matters. 经验很重要。
character matters. 品格很重要。
attitude matters. 态度很重要。
health matters. 健康很重要。
skill matters. 技能很重要。
exercise matters. 锻炼很重要。
test scores matter. 分数很重要。
②：hold water 这个俚语意思是：滴水不漏。
例如：The theory can hold water. 这种理论滴水不漏。
Your explanation doesn’t hold water. 你的解释有问题。
The report on his infidelity doesn’t hold water. 他有外遇的报道站不住脚。
Your claim of innocence doesn’t hold water. 你自称无辜的说法有漏洞。
③：choke 在口语中有个很地道的用法，意思是关键时刻掉链子。
例如：We lost the game because he choked and missed the last shot. 我们比赛输了都是因为他关键时刻掉链子，最后一个球没进。
How could you choke like that? 你怎么关键时刻这么面？
The team is depending on you. Don’t choke! 球队可全靠你了，千万不能掉链子。
④：I could use some 这是一个非常好用的句型，用以婉转地表达想要点什么。
例如：I could use some advice. 有人给我出出主意就好了。
I could use some sleep. 能睡一觉多好。
I could use some help. 有人帮我就好了。
I could use some rest. 我真想歇会。
We could all use some downtime. 每个人都需要有放松的时间。
